The Eluru Cyber Crime Police have successfully solved an online banking fraud case by arresting two individuals accused of cheating unsuspecting citizens through fake investment offers and phishing scams. The operation was carried out after multiple victims reported unauthorized withdrawals and fraudulent transactions from their bank accounts.
According to police officials, the accused contacted victims through social media platforms and messaging applications, promising high investment returns and fake loan approvals. They collected sensitive banking information, including OTPs and internet banking credentials, and illegally transferred money from the victims’ accounts.
Following detailed technical analysis and digital surveillance, the Cyber Crime Investigation Team traced the suspects and arrested them during a coordinated operation. Several mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards, debit cards, and other digital devices used in the fraud were seized as evidence.
Police have advised the public not to share OTPs, passwords, bank account details, or personal information with unknown callers or online platforms. Citizens were also encouraged to verify investment opportunities before transferring money and to report cyber fraud immediately through the national cybercrime helpline or the nearest police station.
Senior officials stated that cyber awareness campaigns will continue across Eluru District to educate the public about online fraud and digital security. The investigation is ongoing to identify additional victims and possible links to larger cybercrime networks operating in other districts.
